if you are intending to buy a new wireless router you can check at http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices website for guidelines for additional firmware support. These firmwares are awesome, it will make your router as good as the expensive ones. There are more tweaking options compared to the original firmwares, but beware that the device warranty is void once you installed the software. And also is you did it wrongly, the chances that you'll bricked your router is there. Smiley

I am using Linksys wrt54G v5 for more than 2 years now. The original firmware was from VOX which has after sometime hangs up the router. Although this router only have half the memory compared to v4, but I managed to flashed it with dd-wrt micro version. The option for tweaking the router is limitless, and so far no more hang ups.
