Anyone have tested this OS? I have just installed Windows Vista on my notebook for testing purposes. Only been using this OS for 30 mins while I'm writing this topic and found out the followings.

1.The installation is very simple and almost unattended.

2.The graphics are awsome

3.Drivers are out from the box detected for my ACER 3200. I was expecting my Broadcom WIFI not detectectable, but however it was my soundcard that was not. But when I'm connected to internet, I just click the update driver and later it was installed.

4.Although everything was installed perfectly, my WIFI light button was not light on, but as usual. Only when there is data trasmitting, the light will blink. This is not a major problems, but it may be battery saving for my notebook.

5.The Accessories category in the program is not there like the windows previous version. So I'm a bit struggling to find it and get use to it.

The Installation CD is compressed 2.69gb in DVD format. The basic installation files will occupy 6.9gb fo your HD, so if you only have 12~20gb ... just forget about it. It is compulsory you get high speed Hard drive to get best speed from this OS.

I tried to repartition my hd using bootable Partition magic 8.0, however there is an error #105 which I have not encountered before. I then tried to install the software in Vista, and it shows that the Partition Magic 8.0 is not compatible with Vista.

After quite a while testing Vista, I'm sad to say that I have to admit that my hardware is not made for Vista. Vista is to power hungry software and dragged your hardware. It's totally waste of processing power, because most of the processing power are used for the graphics that we see.

Unless if you really like to see the graphics, then it's recommended to install Vista on your machine. I recommended 2GB minimum of RAM to run Vista smoothly. alternatively there are few other opensource distro which is better that Vista if you like and willing to learn.

As for the price, two weeks ago I bought original Vista Home Premium CD @ RM300 for my boss new notebook.
