How you think about "Streamyx" ??
«
on:

After 6 months of using streamyx. I found that streamyx got too much problems:
1. Frequent of unreasonable DISCONNECTION ( without any prior notice)
2. Frequent of speed slow down (without any prior notice)
3. Blocking to BT usage.
4. 1-300-88-9515 is a useless call contact. Those operators can not solve problems. They are all liers.
How you think ??

I have no choice but have to subscribe Streamyx. I did contact Jaring but no coverage at the moment. Overall, not so satisfy for what I pay.

How you think about this statement from TM :
"As far as Malaysia is concerned, the culprit that is causing the slowdown in international links to the Internet cloud may have been determined.
Of late, broadband customers have been complaining of severe latency and speed lethargy connecting to international links.
In response, TM Net showed some stats to illustrate that the Internet pipeline linking Malaysia to the global world now totalled 17Gbps, with major links hooked to the center of Internet world, the US.
TM Net has also pledged to increase this to 21Gbps by December, and double it to 42Gbps by end 2007.
It's a vast connectivity for a country of 25 million people, with less than 2 percent broadband penetration. Yet, international links have been slow. Or so the customers grouse.
Out came other slides by the TM Net technical chief, showing that peer-to-peer (P2P) users have been choking up the bandwidth.
A slide showed that, presently, a minority of 13 percent Internet users are sucking up 73 percent of bandwidth. Which means 10Gbps of the total bandwidth of 17Gbps is being hogged by P2P users!
So the question is: Will the increased bandwidth be sucked up by the P2P users in the same ratio?"

Which are you in Sabah. Please let us know distance from TMnet nod. Upload/download speed using their speedometer testing. We need to compare from what their marketers said or what they advertise.
They ask rakyat to subscribe Streamyx but they don't mention the true fact including the hardware and other Streamyx requirement.
I do hope someone expert or Streamyx reseller to give some input.

Listen to explain from IT expert
On the other note, TM Net has never been the monopolising the broadband in Sabah and Sarawak. Prior to Streamyx, I was paying premium rate of RM 499 a month for broadband using PST Internet Device which is now taken over by AtlasOne. Someone also managed to bring in e-building but due to the lack of infrastructure in Sarawak, the business was short lived. There are in fact two other ISPs here in Sarawak offering broadband services much earlier than TM Net. SmartMalaysia and AtlasOne. SmartMalaysia is using satellite system while AtlasOne is using terrestrial signal that of TV to broadcast. The reason why not many knew about this is because they do not publicise their services and their packages are mighty expensive. And the equipment is so proprietary that even the branch offices here does not know how to rectify a problem. Both are considered as premium Internet Services.

Your package? TMnet support said, if we can get around 70% is good enough. Me, I'm expected 100% cause I pay for 100%.
Where is everybody? Are they afraid to voice here?

Do you notice that whenever you have a problem with streamyx and you call for help, the person that is try to help you is actually do not know anything about getting connected.
He/she is assisting us from a text book, to whom is totally new to the dsl or networking than you'll think it's normal. But whom had a basic knowledge would probably say they are talking rubbish. And the most often reason/blame to the problem that the consumers having is always the consumers hardware and settings.
A slow downloads is not a new story, but a few months back they have a dns problem. I can't reach the most well lknown websites, but when support are informed, I was told no what so ever problem and nobody is complaining. Off-course ther will be always the first one who will complain right..so if they treat us the earlybirds like that then you must know that they won't even bother to check.
What do I think about streamyx.....off-course they s****s. But What can we do...it's the only provider that we have in most places. If you were to have another ISP, most probably their maincable is through streamyx backbone pipeline...so..back to square one..

I totally agree what you say. don't dial that 1-300-88-9515, those operators know nothing, care nothing and do nothing. Even they care, they still can not do anything. So, why call.
If encounter with problems, I prefer to call local TM to make the report. DON"T EVER MAKE REPORT THROUGH 1-300-88-9515 . Those operators will teach you rubbish things. They think that customers are stupid. Actually, those operator are stupid and telling stupid rubbish thing. So, never follow what they "teach", what-so-called, "trouble shooting". It is actually "trouble creating". Not effective to solve problems.
I can dare to speak out that mostly 99% of problems are from TM itself.
I sometimes complain through TM customer care e-mail. I will keep on complain until they do something. Mostly, I will mention and force TM to REFUND money for disconnection and speed slow down. The adjustment will be 70% of actual payment. I will pay for what I use.
No more and no less.

I would agree what u said. But I think the gov at least get multiple backbone ISP, so that there will be a fair competitor. Automaticly their services would improved in order to capture their market segments.
Who will benefit? Off-course the consumers(who pays for their services!!)
